2014 Red Carpet Awards

We decided it was time to introduce a bit more glamour to GovHack with a red carpet awards night! The Red Carpet Awards is not only a great opportunity to show off GovHack 2014, but also to showcase the awesome and extremely creative tech sector in Australia to the world.

The 2014 Red Carpet Awards was a gala event held at Brisbane City Hall with hackers from around the country, dignitaries from Federal, State and Local Government, and government and corporate sponsors. It was live streamed and several local award nights tuned in. All the national and local competition winners and commendations are listed at archive.govhack.org/2014-winners/ and all teams were contacted with certificates. We even had some shiny medals to hand out at the Red Carpet Awards, though we didn’t have quite enough! We’ll get more next year 🙂 Photo care of Anna Gerber. You can see all the official Red Carpet Awards photos at https://www.flickr.com/photos/126107061@N06/ where teams got photos on the actual red carpet 🙂 Below is a video of the National Awards ceremony, and a huge thank you to Adam Spencer who was our awesome MC for the night. He said it was the best dressed room of geeks he had ever seen 🙂

Many thanks to our Red Carpet Awards Lead Sponsor and coordinator, Digital Brisbane!
